Bunion Locking Plate System for Hallux-Valgus Correction

The New Merete Bunion Locking Plate System has been developed in collaboration with James K. DeOrio, M.D.; Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Florida.

This new system extends the foot surgery product line of Merete Medical Inc. and will be supplied in conjunction with the established MetaFix™ System. Both plate systems can be handled with the same set of instruments.

Description

The newly designed BLP™ System is an anatomically shaped U-oblique plate to adapt the natural curvature of the first proximal metatarsal. The plate is available in three lengths (33, 35 and 37 mm) right and left. It offers with 3.0 mm or 3.5 mm locking screws a screw-to-plate locking feature which creates a locked, fixed angle construction to hold fracture or osteotomy. Two holes Æ 1.4 mm allow the temporary fixation of the plate at the bone with two k-wires. The plate has especially been designed for the proximal fixation of the modified Chevron Osteotomy (V-Type) for Hallux-Valgus correction.

Indications for Use

The Merete BLP™ System is used for adult and pediatric patients as indicated for small bone fracture fixation. Indications for use include fixation of fractures, osteotomies, non unions of the clavicle, scapula, olecranon, radius, ulna, fibula, metacarpals, metatarsals, Hallux Valgus osteotomy corrections, middle hand and middle foot bones, particular in osteopenic bone.

NEW Tray

In the course of developing the new BLP™ System, Merete Medical has further improved the design of the sterilization tray and offers now a well arranged implant and instrument set.
